Indonesia is without a doubt the surfers’ mecca. The roaring fourties produce solid swells all year around. Indonesia has literally hundreds and hundreds of breaks for all levels of surfing. All parts have the consistency in common but otherwise its own characteristic.

General Conditions Bali:
Bali is “The island of 1000 temples” which the locals believe is blessed by the gods. The gods certainly have blessed the local surfers, because they live in a perfect tropical surf paradise. Although 30 years of tourism has drastically transformed the landscape and the line-ups, Bali remains an essential surfing experience. There is no denying the quality and quantity of its surf, particularly if you include the legendary long lefts of Grajagan, a short boat ride away on the eastern tip of Java. SW swells wrapping consistent lines around the Bukit Peninsula into straight offshore winds create a list of world class lefts, including Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Bingin and Kuta Reef. Add to these the quality beachbreaks of Kuta and Legian, plus the east side rights of Nusa Dua, Sanur and Shipwrecks on Nusa Lembongan, then it becomes obvious that Bali is a feast for travelling surfers.

G-Land (Grajagan):
Like the primitive magical sound of its name, the mentions of Grajagan is an Indonesia incantation that causes surfers everywhere gaze longingly at the horizon. Discovered in the 70's by a couple of intrepid surfers on a flight between Jakarta and Bali. The long lines are unmistakable perfect and the discovery that followed is now regarded as arguably the world's best left-hander ever. Known for its consistent off-shore trade winds during the sessions. G-Land is a Mecca for travelling surfers and the global pilgrimage to G-Land occurs all year around as surfers travel to Java to sample G-Land jewels. From March to November, the Indian Ocean generates strong swells toward G-Land, and no doubt that the swell is constant and flat swell is extremely rare which makes G-Land one of the worlds most consistent breaks.

There are 7 varied breaks in G-Land and only 3 (Kongs, Moneytrees,
& Speedies) become an extremely favorable sections for surfer who
are looking for a superb and challenging waves of a life-time!

G-Land with off-shore winds from March to October and consistent swell from a powerful Indian Ocean wrapping into Grajagan Bay makes this spot one of the world's best left-handers. G-Land Joyo's Surf Camp
The Camp is set amongst a National Park called "Alas Purwo" and is open March to November and located just off the beach line, directly in front of the famous section of reef known as Speedies. With a bungalow style accommodation which is strongly constructed to facilitate the unique lifestyle of most adventurers who love being in the jungle and nature and to provide as much natural element as possible inside the room.

There are three categories of accommodation package available namely Speedies, Money Trees, and Kong. There is a separate amenities block with flush toilets and fresh water showers in all bath-rooms. The central relaxation house features a bar with cold beer, and soft drinks like coke. A dining room, leather lounge plus a 36 inch TV with surround sound stereo system to enjoy the latest movies and most prominent channels transmitted by satellite dish. This area also has 2 large pool tables, table tennis (ping-pong), and many more.

Accommodation is in free standing thatched bungalows sleeping for 2 up to 3 adults and equipped with double or 2 single beds with mosquito nets, bed side light, small table inside the room, cool fan, private balcony, comfortable terrace seat, table, water dispenser and board racks. New Air-conditioner are also featured in Speedies bungalow rooms.

A zodiac boat will take surfers swiftly to the breaks or line-up at high-tide. At low tide you can even walk across the reef and paddle. Other non-surfing activities include fishing, snorkeling, sun-bathing, beach combing, snorkeling, diving, jungle trekking. Rental gears for fishing and bicycling are also available.

Surf Guiding
Aussie surf-guide has anything you need in understanding and recognizing this unique spot, the best section for surfing, the perfect time, etc. Besides his own mother language, English, they could speak and understanding Indonesian pretty well and often helping out to bridge and intermediate between the guest and the staffs/crews.

How to get there
Travelling to G-Land is easy, our minibus/van will pick you up from your hotel or accommodation in Bali in late evening. From there, it’s an over-night drive (overland) via Gilimanuk port and then ferry ship to East Java, arriving early morning dawn at Joyo's Surf Camp. Otherwise you can take our new fast boat departing Bali at 05.30 am where you can enjoy fast & comfortable trip over the ocean, this only takes 2,5 hours to G-Land...just really worth it.

Trip via overland through jungle road is now established especially for those who want to enjoy exoticism side of Alas Purwo jungle during the trip. If lucky, you may encounter group of preserved animals feeding some grasses, fruits or leaves on the other side of the path....just capture the moment with your cam-corder for unforgettable experience...

approx. at 04.30 am. The surfboards will be collected and transfered separately one day prior to fast boat trip departure date using overland.

You will find that G-Land Joyo's Surf Camp is located in a malarial zone. This is chiefly caused by typical condition of surrounding areas since the camp is exclusively situated near the jungle where there are big trees as well as many bushes spread out everywhere plus a humid air resulted by such natural circumstances. Accordingly , these could probably a proper habitat for mosquitoes that may unexpectedly lead to malaria disease. However, during this season actually there are seemingly very few mosquitoes found, as weather is quite dry. Yet, it's still very much advisable for all guests to follow these helpful tips as:

1. Take an anti malarial Prophlactic medication (Chloroquiet Progvanil, Larium or Doxylycline).
2. Take measure against being bitten, e.g. by wearing a long shirt and trousers and mosquito nets anytime when sleeping.

In addition, at Joyo's Surf Camp, the medical facilities are also equipped with emergency medical supplies like: detection first-aid kits for malaria along with proper treatment as well in case any guest get contacted with this disease.

The food catered are well served, under the supervision of experienced qualified Chefs, either local or foreign. The drinking water is fully bottled and in fact the risk for any tomach ache/upset is very low. More importantly, the sun is very strong and hot, hence, bring enough sun-blocks, protect your skin from sun-ray's direct exposure which might be seve-rally causing any serious sun burn case. Besides, it is pretty useful to use hat, helmet with the visor, sun glasses especially in the late after-noon.

Here are some tips what you should take to G-Land:
• A good hat and water-proof sun-screen.
• Basic first-aid kit, antiseptic dressing, etc.
• Sand-shoes and thongs.
• Board-shorts, t-shirts, 1 pair light-weight, long-pants and long-sleeve wind cheater.
• Two towels and sun-glasses.
• Personal toiletries, after-sun cream, insect repellent.
• Walkman, camera, handy-cam and books.
• Booties, 2 surf-boards.
• Light-weight wet-suits, rash-vest, gath helmet and spare leg-ropes.

G-Land is a long fast wave typical of most Indonesian waves, suggested surf board length at 6’8” – 7’2” Gun – unless you surf like a top 44 contender, so bring a couple of ‘Guns’ and your hot-dogger for the small days or down at 20/20’s. You should bring at least 2 boards, Indonesian waves are powerful and it’s possible to break boards, so be prepared and bring at least two boards.
